It balances torsion much more effectively and also provides vehicles with a much smoother ride at low revs. In general, it is preferred especially in heavy vehicles due to its long-lasting and durable features.

A single-mass flywheel is generally one-piece and has a dense center of mass. It regulates the rotational movement of the motor with its simple and lightweight design. It can compensate for torsion to a limited extent, but may cause shaking or vibration. Compared to the dual-mass flywheel, it is more durable because it carries fewer parts, but its lifespan may be shortened if used in high-performance vehicle engines.

Dual Mass Flywheel Failure Symptoms

Failure of the dual mass flywheel usually causes vibration or shaking of the vehicle. This shaking and shaking is usually felt when starting the vehicle or changing gear. In heavy vehicles, its malfunction may cause skidding problems. Another symptom that may occur is the observation of abnormalities in the clutch pedal.
